In the "Shadow Play" series, the graphic influence of woodcuts is already noticeable. Painterly and geometric techniques blend together. The delicate glazes of the watercolors are beautifully showcased within the clear formal language.
Shadows are not seen as gray-black areas behind an illuminated object, but as active, constantly changing forms. Detaching itself from its source and gaining an independent existence, its color influenced by the surrounding light sources. The colored shadow, appearing in the complementary color to the colored light, can be very intense.
