Planet in Change
For several years, in addition to watercolor painting and woodcutting, I have also been working with digital design on the computer.
In one of these works, I deal with the cosmic order in the universe, the changes to our Earth, and the associated climatic consequences.
This highly topical subject is fraught with considerable speculation and deeply emotional. At times it stirs up fears, yet it is also full of fascination and poetry. In the world of planets, there is a constant cycle of creation and decay. It ignites our imagination, but also raises questions that ultimately no one can definitively answer.
Will the Earth one day be consumed by a single, localized fire, a global conflagration? Will it sink into water, into eternal darkness, or freeze solid in ice? Can we survive a comet impact?
We can only influence the process of creation and destruction to a limited extent.
There is a visual beauty in both the act of creation and destruction that fascinates me in this work. It is in no way scientific, but rather of a poetic nature.
